Rock Against Bush - Rock Against Bush Volume 1

The Rock Against Bush compilation is to be released by Fat Wreck Chords on April 20th and will be the first of two volumes. The comp consists of 26 songs, most of which are unreleased and exclusive, from some of the most notable bands in punk and rock: Social Distortion, NOFX, Ataris, Anti-Flag, New Found Glory, Alkaline Trio, Descendents, and several more.

Ya heard right, brand new songs by everyone from the ultra-hip upstart folk-punk band Against Me! all the way up to platinum-selling rock juggernauts Ministry. The Offspring even went back and revisited one of their old songs titled "Tehran", re-recorded it, changed the lyrics, and re-titled the song "Baghdad" to address the madness that the American public is having to endure under the Bush administration. Well, that rare song was actually recorded for the first war in Iraq in 1991, and it's awfully sad to think that it's still relevant so many years later.

It's not enough to simply release a collection of protest songs, so Fat decided that it would be effective to include some content that was more substantial and enlightening to the hundreds of thousands that will own the compilation. The Rock Against Bush comp will be accompanied by a bonus DVD that is packed with informative material and music videos from bands like Bad Religion, Anti-Flag, NOFX, and Strike Anywhere. There also will be political content such as trailers from political films, moveon.org TV spots, and a piece from comedian and Grammy nominee David Cross.

Originally only one Rock Against Bush compilation was planned, but because of overwhelming interest from bands and the music community, it became clear that there was a need for second volume. The first edition of Rock Against Bush comes just in time for the first leg of the Punk Voter tour, which will take place on college campuses throughout the West Coast and is to feature NOFX, Alkaline Trio, Jello Biafra, and many more special guests.
