TOFOG is an acronym for 'Thirty Odd Foot Of Grunts'. They are a band consisting of six members. Garth Adam plays bass, Dean Cochran plays lead guitar, Russell Crowe is the singer and also plays guitar, Dave Kelly plays drums and has a bit of a sing, Stewart Kirwan plays trumpet and flugelhorn and also sings and Dave Wilkins plays yet another guitar and does lots of singing.

Dean and Russell have worked together as musicians since their teen years. They moved to Australia from New Zealand in 1987 and met Garth and Dave Kelly shortly afterwards. The original TOFOG formed in 1992 and consisted of Russell, Garth, Dean, a drummer called Don Brown and a guitarist called Mark Rosieur. Dave Kelly traveled with the band on their first tour as a cameraman and shot a lot of the footage that you can see in the 'What's Her Name?' clip. Dave K, Garth & Dean had jammed together in various projects since meeting in 87, so, when Don Brown decided to get a real job, it was an easy transition for Dave to move in and take his place. Mark Rosieur also moved on and the band with the 4 core members toured quite a bit and recorded most of the tracks you hear on Gasligh'.

Stew Kirwan came along in 1998 when we needed a trumpeter so we could play 'Circus' on a live TV show. He didn't fit in at all, but a trumpeter is a life-long commitment--not just for Christmas--so we kept him. Besides, he looks like he's straight out of the Backstreet Boys, which is a good thing...

Dave Wilkins toured in his band The Utopian Babies opening for TOFOG in Australia and at our first U.S. gig at The Viper Room. He was a good singer and could drink a lot of beer and therefore found himself as the sixth band member. The rest is recent history...

    Russell's backyard wedding

RUSSELL Crowe will marry his longtime love, Danielle Spencer, on Monday, April 7, in the family chapel on his property Nana Glen, near Coffs Harbour.
Crowe's publicist, Wendy Day, yesterday confirmed the date, which was chosen by Spencer because it is Crowe's birthday. Day said the wedding would be an intimate affair for family and friends.

In preparation for the big day, Crowe recently added an extension to the family chapel on his property.

The chapel was first used last year for the wedding of his brother, Terry, to his fiancee, Melissa.

The building is a non-denominational place of worship that is called, simply, The Chapel.

It has symbols representing different beliefs ? Christianity, Celtic, Orthodox, Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam, Maori and the ancient Nordic religion represented by Odin's cross.

Crowe has installed a stained glass window from a former Sydney church, which had been housed in his garage "waiting for the right home".

The chapel floor features a Roman mosaic from the 3rd century with two fish caught on the same hook as its centrepiece.

Russell Crowe & 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts, his band will release their 2nd album the day after the wedding titled "Other Ways Of Speaking."
