Riding the wave of success with "2AM," their hit single, Slightly Stoopid will kick off their Winter 2009 tour on February 5th in Tucson, Arizona. Providing support on this 13-date, southern U.S. trek will be the legendary bad boys of reggae music, Inner Circle.
In addition to this southern run, Slightly Stoopid has been confirmed as one of the headliners at the Langerado Festival to be held at Bicentenial Park in Miami, Florida on March 6, 7 and 8th. The band will share the stage with artists such as Death Cab for Cutie, Snoop Dogg, Cold War Kids and Ryan Adams.
This first leg of Slightly Stoopid's 2009 tour dates will be in support of Stoopid's most recent CD, "Slightly Not Stoned Enough to Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid," which was released last July on the group's own newly formed label, Stoopid Records. Several of the CD's songs - "No Cocaine," "Sensimilla," "Circle House Blues," "False Rhythms," and "The Fruits" - were recorded in collaboration with the Inner Circle guys at their Circle House Studios in Miami.
The radio success of "2AM" has been a big, happy surprise for Slightly Stoopid, a true DIY band that consistently sells out concert dates and has has logged more than half-million CD sales, all without the help of radio, MTV or a major label.
"We've never really had any radio play before," said Stoopid's Miles Doughtry. "We've made a name for ourselves through our live shows and our near-constant touring, and have developed an extremely loyal fan base. But it's very cool to finally get the support from our local radio station, 91X, and then KROQ in L.A., and to see the success of the song snowball from there."
"2AM" - from the band's 2007 release "Chronchitis took home "Song of the Year" honors at this year's San Diego Music Awards, while Slightly Stoopid walked away with "Album of the Year" for "Chronchitis." "2AM" has also been nominated as Best Song of the Year at 91X, along with "I Would Do For You," a second Stoopid composition that is getting heavy airplay at 91X.

Slighty Stoopid more information
Slighty Stoopid, was one of the few artists who played to SRO crowds, selling more than 95% of the tour's available tickets, and they plan to achieve similar success with their North American Fall tour that kicks off October 8th. The seven-week trek will feature a number of highlights, including a slot on the Austin City Limits Music Festival, playing Canadian dates for the first time in awhile, and headlining the December 6th finale in the concert series celebrating the reopening of the renovated Hollywood Palladium, the iconic club that first bowed in 1940.
For these dates, Slighty Stoopid will supported by Lafayette, LA's Outlaw Nation whose new album is set for a 2009 release on Stoopid Records. Opening the show will be Stoopid's very own in-house DJ, DJ Unite.
Stoopid founders Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, who share vocal/guitar/bass duties, will be joined by Ryan "RyMo" Moran on drums, C-Money on trumpet and keyboards, saxophonist De La, and Oguer "OG" Ocon on congas, percussion, harp and vocals.
The band first gained while attending high school together in Ocean Beach, California, and the late Brad Nowell of the band Sublime signed them to his Skunk Records. Stoopid's first album was released in 1996 and has become a highly sought after collector's item by Sublime fans due to Nowell's appearance on a hidden track.
Slightly Stoopid's North American Fall tour is in support of their latest release, "Slightly Not Stoned Enough to Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid," which was released July 22nd on the band's own Stoopid Records, and boasts b-sides, rarities and other previously unreleased outtakes as well as eight new studio tracks.
Slightly Stoopid is looking forward to playing another round of dates in front of their always-growing fan base, or as they're affectionately known, 'Stoopid Heads.' "They're just maniacs straight-up, and we love them. Without them, we'd just be playing at the bar. They make it worth our while - when we go out and people are having that good of a time, the energy goes back and forth. Just a good time - we just rely on each other's energy."
