It's the first single to be released by the band since Signal Fire went to number four in the UK charts in May 2007 and the Northern Irish group's biggest hit to date.
Gary Lightbody says, ""I'm so proud of this record. Everybody played out of their skin. Garret "Jacknife" Lee) continued his progression from maverick genius to one of the best producers in the world. Musically, lyrically and sonically the best record we've made."
Drummer Jonny Quinn told the Telegraph the band hoped to perform a few intimate shows back in Nor thern Ireland before playing a major concert here next year.
The Grammy-nominated band's fifth studio album was recorded throughout the summer of 2008 in Hansa Studios in Berlin and at Grouse Lodge deep in the Irish countryside.
Snow Patrol is one of the biggest selling U.K. bands this decade. A Hundred Million Suns follows up the 2006 seven-times platinum phenomenon Eyes Open which sold 2.1 million copies in the U.K. and over one million in the U.S.
The Alternative rockers will become the first musical act to launch an interactive album application for the iPhone and iPod Touch through Apple's App Store. Fans will be able to download the application and access bonus content including artwork, behind-the-scenes images and lyrics via the handset's touchscreen.
Snow Patrol's product manager Liz Goodwin says, "It will be an interactive element; a digital booklet that will take you into the videos and content. For fans it will be a real must-have, and the fact that they are the first band to do this gives us an additional angle for exposure."
