Spose is Awesome on The Audacity
Has it already been two years that Spose's 'I'm Awesome' became a success? Since then he released a mixtape 'We Smoked It All Volume 2' last year with Cam Groves and is ready to return this year. His new album 'The Audacity!' and a mixtape have been scheduled to be released in 2012.
Last week he revealed the first sarcastic single 'Pop Song'. In the official he prevails the marketing behind many artists by dressing up like a lot of different high-profile artists. The song itself is on point and proves he is up to the task.
On his new 11-tracks album he has managed to create a vibe that touches both hip-hop as alternative/rock. You can imagine that it will not (only) contain top40/popular songs since he has chosen his own path since his departure from Universal/Republic in 2011.
His hit-single 'I'm Awesome' is currently being used as a theme-song in Canada for television-show "Mr.D". The clean, radio-friendly version of the song is available for free download here

The Audacity! recorded at a birch bark desk in the Maine woods throughout 2011 and mixed by Jon Wyman in February 2012 at The Halo in rustic Windham, Maine. Musically the album breaks new ground both for Spose and hip-hop in general. Spose manages to masterfully blend his alternative rock and hip-hop influences into something simultaneously progressive and familiar. As ArtistDirect.com put it: "Think Jay-Z meets Weezer and you've got Spose." Nowhere is that more true than on The Audacity! where 808-drums meet distorted guitars and turntable cuts give way to guitar solos. However, like his back catalog, The Audacity! is told with the signature satire and witty observations that have made Spose one of the most compelling and honest voices in both hip-hop and pop music. The lead singles "Knocking on Wood" and "Gee Willickers" - both produced by Spose - will hit iTunes on March 12th.
Preposterously Dank Entertainment (P. Dank) and Spose have documented the entire album-making process. Expect a steady stream of content ahead of the album's release!
Catch Spose out on the road this summer supporting The Audacity! with a DJ as well as a 4-piece band. In the meantime, Spose will celebrate the release in his home state with a pair of CD release shows in Portland, Maine at Empire on Friday, April 20th. There will be an early show (5 pm doors) for all ages and a late show (9 pm doors) for the 21+ crowd. The event, dubbed "An Evening with Spose and friends," will feature Spose performing much of his catalog backed by the immensely talented 7-piece band Sly Chi and a revolving door of special guests including Educated Advocates, Cam Groves, Spencer Albee, and many more. This intimate, once (well, twice) in a lifetime performance is not to be missed.
