You may or may not have heard, but that never-ending musical
adventure that is Supergrass has a new album set to come out Sept.
27th. The new disc, Road to Rouen (Capitol), is a continuance of their
growth and maturation since their last album (of new material), Life on
Other Planets.
Road To Rouen is their first self-recorded,
self-produced album. Recorded out in a barn out in the middle of
Normandy, France, it's almost (but not totally) an entirely new
direction for the band. Plus, they used to nifty little tricks on the
album like customizing an old well outside the barn for reverb. The
first single, 'St Petersburg,' uses a zither, a grand accompaniment of
strings and a laid back melody you'll find stuck in your head way after
you hear the track.
We gave "St. Petersburg" music video by Supergrass a listen and yeah, we like it. Let's see if it will 'grow' on us. (September, 2005)
Remember: oldie but goodie. Like wine, some songs get better due time. Is this one of them or was it just a one-day wonder?
