Garage rock veterans The Black Lips have followed up the widely successful Good Bad Not Evil with the March 3rd release of 200 Million Thousand (Vice Records). Members of the Atlanta-based band Black Lips describe their music as "flower punk."
On the new 200 Million Thousand, Black Lips' members appear to take themselves a bit more seriously, while still maintaining their reputation as lovable pranksters. "Starting Over," now impacting Alternative, may be the best evidence that the new approach is working. Mixing pop with garage punk, it's a strangely successful combination.
