... its acclaimed debut album my dear radium, and throwing the biggest show the elite nyc club pianos has seen in all of 2004. Less than two month’s later, the trio returned to pianos and sold it out again. since then, it has been nothing but top-notch clubs (mercury lounge, southpaw…) and rave reviews for this crew.
Lead singer/guitarist/polymath Tom Sean arrived in new york in 2000 after a long taxing battle with suburbia. Now in the home stretch of his ph.d. in chinese history at columbia university, t.s. has announced that, if he survives his bout with my dear radium, he plans to become the first indie rocker with tenure.
Drummer Rubén Mercado, the band's atomic clock, was born and raised in nyc. In an attempt to escape the gravitational pull of the city, he spent time studying under the greats at the blue bear school of music in san francisco. Strange attractors brought him back, however, and r.m. has been the band's nucleus ever since.
Bassist David Horton, also a recovering suburbanite, was in utero during the three mile island incident of 1979. Doctors say he was unaffected, yet there's something not quite right about the boy: by day, d.h. is a psychosocial oncology researcher, by evening a graduate student in psychology, and by late night the pulse of The Black Spoons.
