The Candles to release Between The Sounds

The Candles are proud to announce the release of their debut album Between The Sounds, which is the first album from singer/songwriter Josh Lattanzi. The songs are based on the experiences and influences he’s picked up while recording and touring with the likes of Ben Kweller, Albert Hammond, Jr. (The Strokes) and Tinted Windows. The Candles combine elements of the 70s and 90s, creating a sound that will find fans amongst those who like Jackson Browne, Wilco and the Lemonheads. SPIN Magazine agrees, saying “It's a vibe we've heard resurrected before, but when executed with Lattanzi's emotional precision and sure sense of craft it still holds the power to be as moving as watching the sun set over Topanga Canyon.” The Deli Magazine has gone on to name The Candles one of NYC Artists on the Rise.

The Candles
The Candles, the first solo project from singer/songwriter Josh Lattanzi encompasses the varied styles and influences he’s picked up while recording and touring with the likes of Ben Kweller, Albert Hammond, Jr. (The Strokes) and Tinted Windows. On April 13th, Between The Sounds will mark the debut release from Josh Lattanzi, who most recently toured with The Lemonheads’ Evan Dando in early 2010.

With the first significant free time he’s had in years, Lattanzi began the process of crafting his debut in June 2008, writing and recording demos in his New York City apartment. The recording process then moved to a studio in Celeste, TX and the album was finished in NYC in early 2010. The west coast sounds of the seventies that snaked like a vine from Gram Parsons through Evan Dando and Ryan Adams nestle up nicely to Lattanzi on such tunes as “Let Me Down Easy” and “Between The Sounds,” while “Here Or Gone” finds the singer delivering a big “roll down the car windows” chorus that would make Tom Petty smile. SPIN Magazine agrees, saying “It's a vibe we've heard resurrected before, but when executed with Lattanzi's emotional precision and sure sense of craft it still holds the power to be as moving as watching the sun set over Topanga Canyon.”
