The Sonic Hearts, a big-hearted fivesome who sit squarely in the lineage of ultra-melodic Liverpool bands that unites The La's, The Coral and, more recently, The Troubadours. Frontman Sean Francis Butler has a voice that cracks in that classic Merseyside way, all grit and yearning, and current single To Be Someone is the perfect vehicle for it – a sweetly-shimmering anthem that builds to a harmony-drenched climax, fulfilling the band's (mildly pretentious) stated desire to approximate "the sound of tiny stars exploding." To Be Someone is out 31 March, followed by an EMI-released debut album later in the year.
We are still enjoying "To Be Someone" music video by The Sonic Hearts (a Thumbs Up!) although its been over three months since its been released (March, 2008). Why not? Songs don't get old, they get better.
Ahh look a song which should have received more attention. A pity...
