    Biography

Underdog are a four-piece band aged 17 – 21 and hailing from Essex. Formed by schoolmates Andy Stock, Jordan Jones, Aaron Roberts and Jon Wright, the band has spent the last two years honing their songs.

With influences ranging from The Beatles, the Kings of Leon, Radiohead and U2, the maturity and sensitivity of Underdog's songwriting belies their age. Underdog have been mesmerising audiences with their original brand of soaring, epic pop and have already captured a loyal following of passionate fans.

From the moment front man Jordan Jones opens his mouth to sing, audiences are immediately pulled in to the dark and moody atmospherics of Underdog's unique sound. Underdog live, are a chilling, impulsive, explosive, romantic band.

The band have a good amount of radio support and industry recognition already on their plate. This includes a regular slot at the London club ‘No Need For Prozak’ run by Iain Lee (Channel Four’s 11 O’clock Show and RI:SE). Additional backing from the likes of XFM and Alan McGee are a constant reminder that this fresh band are clearly not of underdog status.

With tracks featured on two compilation releases including the US, the band are excited about their 2 album deal with Criminal Records and their debut EP ‘Sunny Estate’.

“The boys from Underdog are from Maldon in Essex. Don't forget you heard them here first!” [BBC Essex]

“Underdog are an Essex based indie rock band, with influences ranging from U2 to Green Day. They have spiky guitar sound, strong vocals and some interesting tunes. Particularly notable is the opener “Tell Me”, with its straight ahead trebly guitar, mixed with some heartfelt vocals… …They manage to combine reflective lyrics with a classic underground indie feel that works well. Could be a band to watch…” Rob Massey [Sohostrut]

“Coldplay with a bit more oomph or perhaps the libertines with more verve, whichever way you want to describe the band 'Underdog' quality will properly come into it…. Their EP displays their qualitys aptly, from the pop'ish 'Tell me' which is the first song with it's upbeat happy sound, to the second track 'Watching & Waiting' with it's modern guitar pop sound. The only question is can they continue to be prolific with their quality songwriting.” [Rock3 Radio]

“This five piece Essex band already show great potential. With ages ranging from 17-21, this EP demonstrates musical maturity beyond the bands tender years. Those of you who like good indie music will appreciate where the band are coming from. Their influence The La's/Smiths filter through particularly on the first two tracks…. ….This shows Underdog have the ability to write and perform beyond their years. If they continue along this route they will be a band with longevity.” Susi Hamilton [Screaming Tarts]
