Decks and the City is a mix compilation series featuring the brightest new DJs in North America's key cities. The respective DJs who have been chosen for each installment have been given full creative control and have selected all the tracks on the CD. It is a true DJ set. Volume one: New York, is mixed by Marcus and Dominique resident DJs of CENTRO-FLY, New York City's only super club. These talented masters on the decks have a long-standing reputation in New York and were a clear choice to open this compilation series.

Comprising a full 65-minute mix on the deeper end of the House Music spectrum, and keeping true to the flavor of New York City, the CD has an international sound and is a reflection on Marcus and Dominique's urban environment. Derrick Carter's "Where U At?" kicks off the record. This track, just recently released, has been acclaimed by David Piccione from Ministry Magazine as "nice, fat and thick and does everything you'll need to keep your body moving". Other UK producers featured include Bushwacka and Little Bossa. BPM Magazine describes Little Bossa's track as "chunky, with a tough edge and plenty going on". DJ Sneak, Hipp-e & Tony, Tony Senghore and Paul Johnson represent the US while Tiefschwartz, La Fractoria Posse and others hail from other parts of the globe.

To sum it all up best, Swax from Dazed & Confused/ DJ Magazine in London says; "for occasional connoisseurs, deep house aficionados and all round music lovers alike, this first installment of 'Decks And The City' could prove to be one of the year's most essential soundtracks, no matter where the location".

takeout records plans to release 4 volumes a year, each featuring the best DJs in major North American cities. The tentative plan is for Volume Two to hit the west coast, and possibly feature Los Angeles. The vision of this series is simple: to provide quality music in exceptional packaging at a price that the consumer can appreciate, and, of course, mixed seamlessly. The DJs run with the mix but takeout is closely involved in every aspect of production. By choosing talented individuals like Marcus and Dominique, takeout is confident that a symbiotic relationship between label and artist can and will exist.

Although both from Dublin, Ireland, Marcus and Dominique met in New York. Despite contrasting musical tastes, they began DJing together in Downtown bars and clubs. Today they are the resident spinners and through their production team name PLANT promote Saturday nights at Centro-Fly, the last superclub left in New York where you can hear authentic house music at it's very best. Although the style of music Plant has played has varied over the years, the emphasis has always been on quality. Since Centro-Fly Saturdays began, almost three years ago, guests have included; Chemical Brothers, DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Doc Martin, Hipp-E & Halo, DJ Dan, Basement Jaxx and a whole host more. Marcus and Dominique are also partners in Plant Bar, a highly acclaimed and popular East Village nightspot. Since its opening in August 2000, an eclectic blend of music has kept the vibe alive at the Plant Bar, and visitors such as Norman Cook, Felix Da Housecat, Ian Pooley, Pete Tong, Darren Emerson and Morgan Geist have made it a legendary small music venue. Plant Music, their label, has been re-launched in August and two of the new tracks are featured on Decks and the City Volume one.

Having seen a million and one 'supposedly non-disposable' compilations come and go over the last few years, takeout records' 'Decks and the City...' ongoing series of essential DJ mixes aims to provide the listener with the REAL sound of today's dance music revolution taking place throughout the US...
