You Don't Know the Half will feature all new music from Halftooth artists Oddisee, Kenn Starr, and Wordsworth, and new music from Talib Kweli, J-Live, Phonte and Big Pooh of Little Brother, Asheru of Unspoken Heard, Grap Luva, Cy-Young, Kev Brown and many more. Halftooth Records is the home of Hip-Hop artist and producer Oddisee, who many of you know from his song "Musik Lounge" off of DJ Jazzy Jeff's Magnificent. Oddisee produced most of the songs on You Don't know the Half. Oddisee has produced songs for many of Hip-Hop's finest, and he has also released several 12 inch singles, including "Nitefall" with Kev Brown and Cy-Young.
According to co-President Zach Gordon, "You Don't Know the Half is our way of introducing the Halftooth family to the Hip-Hop community in a deeper than usual context. As opposed to showcasing individual artists, we believe it is more important to create a musically cohesive project that can capture the enormous collaborative potential of everyone involved. The result proves to be an album that stands as not only the expressive efforts of individuals, but as a single musical expression from like-minded individuals."
The album starts of well with an Oddisee, Kenn Star & J-Live collaboration track entitled "Quest to Find". The J-Live track "Who Do You Call" has a weak beat but J-Live delivers a dope rhyme. Oddisee shows his skills with tracks like "Yes Y'all", "Brother" and title collaboration track "You Don't Know The Half" featuring Quartermaine, Kenn Starr, Dash, Oddisee & Wordsworth. The album's highlight is "Everyday Campaign" of Kaimbr, Cy Young & DJ Roddy Rod. Other notable tracks are: Kenn Star "Walk the Walk" and Wordsworth "Here We Go Again".
The album delivers dope tracks with no popular sh*t and/or R'n'B tunes. It might lack diversity but overall "You Don't Know the Half" is an album for the true headnodding HipHop heads.
