Independents Finest Volume 3 'Independents Finest 3' album

On September 10th, Ill Boogie records is set to drop Independents Finest: Volume 3. The newest edition in a series that collects classic vinyl hits on compact disc for the first time. Now, hip-hop heads that don't have turntables can cop the hottest independent releases on disc. Ill Boogie's compilations have been home to rap heavy hitters such as Brand Nubian, AZ, and the multi-talented Guru. The latest volume includes the hot new double-sided single from Rasco dubbed 'The Beat Down' and 'Irish Cream' from the up and coming Doujah Raze.

The L.A based Ill Boogie records represents the underground, reel to reel throughout their entire music library featuring nothing but the classics and essentials for the true hip hop head. Ill Boogie has served as a launch pad for several successful artists such as Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5, Planet Asia, and Rasco. The latest edition, Independents Finest: Volume3, is set to keep the tradition in full effect featuring 30 tracks from today?s hottest underground artists.

In February 2001, contributing to the crusade of keeping hip-hop alive, Ill Boogie Records launched the compilation series "Independents Finest". The fact that countless quality hip-hop releases are available, and continue to be released, exclusively on vinyl gave birth to the idea. Unless one is a DJ or an avid underground club-goer, much of hip-hop?s most innovative, stimulating music is inaccessible to the general public. In result, "real" hip-hop continues to dwell in the shadow of its "Bling Bling" cousin. Whether compiling these urban compositions on compact disc is merely a symbol of the independent music struggle or if Ill Boogie is actually making a difference remains to be seen. Either way, Ill Boogie takes Independents Finest seriously and promotes it as if it were an artist itself.

On Independents Finest Volumes 1 & 2, "vinyl only" releases of independent record labels were the focal point. Volume 3 however, broadcasts the focus in seeking some of the world?s most gifted "unreleased" aspiring artists.
