VAINS of JENNA was formed in the small town of Falkenberg SWEDEN in January 2005. Lead Vocalist/Guitarist Lizzy DeVine & bassist JP White had talked the previous summer about putting together a new and killer project. Both had played in a group before and eyed a young teenage guitarist named Nicki Kin as the final piece to the line-up along with his classmate Jacki Stone on drums. Stone & Kin both graduated high school together in 2005 and had played together in bands since they were 12 years old. The band picked their name and VAINS of JENNA were born.
VAINS of JENNA was offered a chance to play the world famous Hollywood “Whisky-A-Go-Go” in the summer of 2005 and after clearing all with their parents, decided to spend thousands to fly to California to play the event. They were offered the 1st slot out of 10 bands and were scheduled to perform at 4:pm on Saturday July 30th. They jumped at the chance and stunned the crowd of roughly 20 people with their raw energy, young looks, and sleazy throw back appeal. Before dinner even started for most - their 10,000+ mile journey to the land of the stars was over in a flash with a short 30 minute set. Or was it?
Fast forward a whopping 4 days later the band was cutting tracks with Gilby Clarke (X-Guns n’ Roses guitarist) at his Redrum Studios. The band returned to Sweden with more determination than ever, and their short 6 month career had now taken a swift turn or two and the band knew more than ever, this was meant to be. They secured management while in Los Angeles and headed home for a winter filled with rehearsals, writing sessions, live gigs and more recording time in the studio. The band supported all of Sweden’s hot and up n’ coming rock bands like Crash Diet, Hardcore Superstar & Gemini 5.
The spring of 2006 approached and the band put the finishing touches on their self produced debut full length release “Lit up – Let down”. The band was offered a tour in Italy in March 2006 and played to rave reviews. The band then set sights on the UK and headed to London for 30 days. They slept in and lived in Nicki’s silver Volvo station wagon in an alley and played a half dozen gigs. Again, the band was raved about by locals, pub owners, and even rival bands could not help but appreciate the brash sound and look of VAINS of JENNA. 2006 has been bright, 2007 looks even brighter!
